Recently, Iโve been sitting in my office alone. And, when I am alone, I tend to time travel.
There I am, clicking around on the computer grading a paper from a wonderful woman who is on the basketball team and Whoooooooosh:
I am back in high school. My basketball coach is yelling at me that Iโm slow, disappointment oozing out all over his face. His daughter is also on the team. She moves like a lightning bolt.
And Iโm back. On to the next paper of a student who has progressed from fear of public speaking to actually smiling during their speech. I smile too, then Whooooooooosh:
I am in my new classes next Spring. All unfamiliar faces. Do they get my sense of humor? I am their new Netflix show โ will they enjoy this episode? Will they want to finish the series? Am I stylish?ย

Do you travel in time?
What moments do you revisit?
What moments do you imagine will happen in the future?
I want to summon up my past triumphs, the finish line crossings, the moments of big love, yet my mind takes me back, over and over again, to the pain.
I remind myself that itโs ok. Itโs ok. Itโs what our brains do. Nothing is wrong.
But hey, booโฆ Come back.
My friend Stephanie recently taught me to imagine that myย life is a movie. Itโs already been made, edited, soundtrack added. I canโt do anything to change it. Itโs rolling right now, and everyย moment.
Hey, booโฆ Come back.
Wherever you are today: in your office, in your car, in your house sitting at the computer, take a breath and stay there.
Your past is a wrap. The future has been cast and acted out. Relax, let go of the desireย to control it all, and just watch the movie unfold.
Itโs beautiful. There you are, and you are beautiful. There is beauty in every moment.ย
Hey, booโฆ Come back.
Enjoy the show.
You are the star.
